Lake of the Woods Fishing

July 22 – July 28, 2018

We are leaving our bows and rifles and grabbing our fishing rods to head back to Lake of the Woods with David Pride of Rustic Outfitters! We host an annual Whitetail Deer hunt up on these islands and have talked many times of heading up during the summer months to fish and are finally making it happen. In addition to it’s gorgeous scenery Lake of the Woods is famous for it’s trophy Walleye, Northern Pike, and Muskie!

This will be 5 total days of fishing and we will be staying on house boats to remain close to the action. There is only 1 slot available, selected Veteran must possess a valid US Passport, contact us if interested.

Lake of the Woods Fishing, Ontario, Canada

Lake of the Woods, Ontario, Canada is very well known for its world class fishing! We hosted a hunting event up there in 2017 with David Pride of Rustic Outfitters and got talking about coming out in the spring for fishing and 2018 we made it happen! We had several volunteers tag along providing a fully set up fishing boat! I linked up with our Veteran in Fargo ND and we drove up to Kenora and set out on boats from there. Our accommodations was a one room house boat fully set up with wood stove, propane cook top and hot shower! The weather was amazing and the mosquitos hadn’t fully hatched yet so we couldn’t have asked for better conditions. We targeted Walleye and Smallmouth Bass and threw some large Muskie baits the last hour or two of each day. The Walleye and Bass fishing was top notch and continuous action.

We hit a few weed beds where the Northern Pike were hitting every other cast! We had one Musky follow a lure up to the boat but other than that the elusive fish successfully evaded us. We feasted on fish and whiskey every night with stories and joke flowing freely!
